Toby Keith Reflects on His Headline-Grabbing Hit "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue"

It's been almost eight years since Toby Keith released "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," and launched into a war of words with Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks over the song's post-9/11 message. Ever since that time, Toby has been portrayed as a champion for the right wing, even though he's been a lifelong Democrat, though he turned independent last year.

Toby looks back on "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," saying, "That song put me in the political crossfire. It got me on the news."  He goes on to tell Canada's The Province newspaper that wasn't necessarily a good thing for him. "If I had to say one way or the other, I'd say...bad. That's not part of my world," Toby says.

Toby's world is all about music, though. He continues his current tour on Tuesday, June 27th, at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, California.
